HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!Radio) 2012/3/8 – Gosh!Radio host Gabrielle Pantera interviewed Lauren Mayhew and took callers’ questions on Meet the Music.  Gosh!Radio serves callers with local numbers in 15 countries.

“My music is dance-electro, mixed with a little bit of rock sass,” says singer-songwriter Lauren Mayhew. “I’d say it’s Lady Gaga fused with Joan Jett. Something you can’t help but dance to, but is grittier than your typical electro-pop song.”

“I played at Paramount, opening for Katy Perry and LMFAO. Katy Perry and LMFAO were super fun to perform with. It was crazy cold at the Paramount lot for New Year’s Eve, but there were heat lamps galore, a ton of food, a gigantic ferris wheel, and an amazing gifting lounge where the coolest brands gave you products to try and keep. It was awesome. I danced the night away with the other performers and my friends, with tons of glow in the dark necklaces, light sabers, and beads.

Mayhew takes inspiration from many artists. “Music is such a fusion these days. I try to take a little of the best from all the artists I like and then make it into my own creation.” Mayhew has been singing and playing piano since an early age.

“All of my music has a message,” says Mayhew. “Sometimes it’s something deeper, like with my song, Look Inside, which talks about people making snap judgments based on appearance, but no one really knowing what you are truly capable of but you. “Sometimes the message is simpler like Welcome to My World, where its about entering this crazy fantasy of what mayhem is really about and immersing yourself
in something totally fun and new.”

With a previous band, Mayhew was signed to Epic Sony. “We opened for Britney, NSYNC, Destiny’s Child, 98 Degrees, and Aerosmith. I played at the O2 Arena in London and all over the U.S. while singing and hosting for the WWE. I just got back from a club tour of Dubai and Japan.”

Mayhew was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. “The weather is gorgeous and sunny all year-round. It was hard not to be a total beach bum. I missed a lot of school though growing up because I was acting from a very young age. I was also a total tomboy.” As a child, Mayhew was on the PBS-TV show The Reppies. She was on the soap Guiding Light as a young teenager.

Mayhew says she hopes to perform someday with Usher and JT. “They are amazing performers. Adele, because I am a huge fan. She has so much passion. Steven Tyler and Madonna because they are icons.”

Upcoming Shows and New Album

Mayhew also has two shows coming up, one at Charleston in Santa Monica, the other at The Cellar in San Francisco. Details on upcoming shows and tour dates can be found on Facebook and Twitter and her web site.

Lauren Mayhew will release her next album on ITunes and her web site under a new label yet to be announced.
