HOLLYWOOD, CA (Gosh!Radio) 10/21/2011 - “I wear my own fingerprints.” say rapper-songwriter Papi Razi. “I live through myself. I don’t fit any pre-cut mold. If you can do that, then you are unique.”

Papi Razi was a featured guest Oct 22nd, 2011 on the Gosh!Radio show Meet the Music broadcasting live from Hollywood. Meet the Music is hosted by Gabrielle Pantera. Guest co-host was actress Michelle Vidal.   It’s also available as a podcast.

“The world bleeds into my creativity in one way or another,” says Razi. His sound is soulfully hip hop with an indie pop feel. He finds inspiration for his music through conversation and is inspired by life as a whole. His songwriting reflects this. Razi begins writing by mumbling and finds the words then just appear. His recording process depends on the song. “I’m a student of the arts, so I study what I am doing first and I proceed to create it when I feel I am open to it. That or an event occurs that compels me to speak or write about it and I head to the booth.”

Razi, originally from Missouri, has been singing and rapping since he was fourteen years old. “The Midwest can be humid and bitterly cold,” says Razi, “but I think it often keeps people grounded and appreciative of the small things.” Being a “Jack of all and master of none,” Razi plays many instruments, with trombone being his favorite. Razi learned to play in order to produce and create music. “I have always been surrounded by better musicians,” says Razi.

Artists who inspire Razi include Prince, Marvin, Miles and LL. “I would love to perform with Lauryn Hill and Prince just so I could share in the magic,” says Razi.

“I once heard from a fan in Austria that told me one of my songs helped her to step away from suicide,” says Razi, whose soulful beats reach all ages. “At the end of the day I am a lyricist to the core and whatever form or forum I need to convey the message is what I’ll use to speak to people from the cradle to the grave.”

Razi is currently finishing his next album and doesn’t have any performances scheduled at this time. “I am sure I’ll hop on stage unexpectedly somewhere soon,” says Razi.
